From Cedar Rapids Police Department

CEDAR RAPIDS – April 8, 2019 – Police officers and firefighters were dispatched to a traffic accident on Saturday, April 6, 2019 at 6:40 p.m. at 6^th Street and America Drive SW.  Emergency crews arrived on scene to find an accident involving a 2011 Chevrolet Avalanche that had struck a 2008 Harley-Davidson FLHR Road King in the intersection. 

The motorcyclist, identified as Kevin Lee Lauver, DOB/03-09-1964, age 55, of Van Horne, was seriously injured and transported by air ambulance to University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.  The Johnson County Medical Examiner notified the Police Department that Lauver died on Sunday, April 7 at 4:20 a.m.

The driver of the truck was identified as Diavi Lashae McDuffy, DOB/11-12-1999, age 19, of Cedar Rapids.  McDuffy was not injured.

The accident remains under investigation.
