At Walford Game
Walford 5 Norway 2
Norway scored first to take a one run lead in the first. The Bandits added another solo run in the third. The fourth inning turned into a big inning for Walford as they scored three runs to take the lead. The Walford Hogs had three doubles in the fourth frame. The doubles were from Gabe Lux, Caleb Sass and Andrew Walker. Tony Barreca had three hits for the Hogs. The Hogs added two more runs to seal the game in the fifth inning. Riley Braughton had three hits for Norway. Lux had two RBI’s for Walford.
Walford 7 Norway 2
Walford completed the sweep in game two. The Hogs scored three runs in the first inning and added three more in the sixth. Walford had 12 hits in the game. Manny Jeffrey of Walford led the hitting with three hits. Noah Dostal had two hits for Norway. Travis Reyhons and Luke Ira had two hits and two RBI’s for the Hogs.
At Williamsburg
Williamsburg 4 Stars 1
Zach Kammin of Williamsburg took a no hitter bid into the seventh inning. The Stars came up with two hits in the seventh,scoring one run to spoil Kammnis bid. Kammin did complete the seventh inning. Tough luck pitcher Austin Czerwiec of the Stars lost his third game of the season. Czerwiec 2017 and 2018 Pitcher Award winner, has been plagued by lack of run support this season. Czerwiec has given up only nine runs in his three outings but his team has scored only a total of three. Kevin Delaney’s long two run homerun was the big blow for the Red Sox in the fourth inning.
Stars 2 Williamsburg 0
The Stars got their second win of the season. They did score only two runs and both of those were on passed balls or wild pitches. The Stars got superb pitching from southpaw JT Henry. Henry struck out seven Williamsburg batters. Nolan Ryan led Williamsburg with two hits as the 2018 league champions are still scrambling to reach the .500 mark for the season. Walker Breard led the Stars with two hits.
At Watkins
Watkins 3 Red Top 2
Red Top took a one run lead into the sixth inning when Christian Cordero hit a solo homerun for Watkins. Cordero’s blast seemed to change the momentum Red Top was never able to regain the lead in the game. Skyler Frese singled for Watkins in their half of the inning and scored on a wild pitch. Evan Boddicker pitched extremely well in key situations to pick up the win for the Hens. Boddicker pitched a complete game. Evan pitched a four hitter. Ryan Hosch pitched for Red Top allowing only five hits. Red Top got RBI hits from Colin Kreider and Cam Arons. Skyler Frese had two hits for Watkins.
Watkins 3 Red Top 2
Each team had five hits in this tense battle. Mitch Silverstein tied the score at 1-1 with a single for Red Top in the fifth inning. Skyler Frese of Watkins singled in Luke Farley who had doubled in the bottom of the fifth. All of which led to two runs eventually for Watkins giving them a two run lead at 3-1. Zion Pettigrew singled in a run for Red Top in the top of the sixth to bring the score to 3-2 in favor of Watkins. Several great defensive plays were made in the outfield in part due to the extremely heavy winds. The defense was very solid by both teams in this game,although an infield error led to a run for Watkins. Pitcher Keiber Gutierrez of Watkins had two very hard line drives hit at him and the Red Top first baseman had a tremendous play diving for a liner when the infield was playing in for a play at the plate. Gutierrez picked up the pitching win for Watkins. Watkins now sits alone in first place in league standings
