Central Committee meets in Belle Plaine on July 16
The Benton County Democratic Central Committee met Tuesday night, July 16th at the Belle Plaine Museum. In addition to the regular business, Presidential Candidate Senator Michael Bennet from Colorado, (pictured in the attached photo waving to the camera in the middle of the photo) stopped by and addressed the group.

Senator Bennet spoke on issues that he is highlighting in his campaign including ending dark money to campaigns from the Citizens United Supreme Court’s decision, economic policies that lift up the middle class, and educational opportunities for all children. As a former Superintendent for the Denver Public School, Senator Bennet understands the importance of public schools and what is needed to provide educational opportunities to children of all ages.
The Bennet family exemplifies the opportunities that our country provides for people from around the world. His mother and her parents emigrated to this country after surviving the horrors of the Holocaust. His family’s history illustrates how our country welcomed refugees after WWII much the same as people coming to this country seeking asylum from dangerous countries today.
