CEDAR RAPIDS (Nov. 4, 2019) – The Heritage Area Agency on Aging, in partnership with Meth-Wick Community, is co-hosting a caregiver wellness event in observance of National Family Caregivers Month. The purpose of this free event is to support the wellbeing of caregivers and promote self-care through various therapeutic activities and informational speakers.

Keynote speakers are Kathy Good and Abby Martin from the Family Caregivers Center of Mercy and Dr. Sara Sanders from the University of Iowa. There will be break out speakers discussing Medicaid as well as education on levels of care. There will be over thirty vendors for caregivers to visit with to gain information to help them in wherever they are at in their caregiving journey.
Participants will also have a chance to enjoy massage therapy, conversation with other caregivers with similar settings, and partake in a delicious, free meal. The committee is excited to announce Laughter Yoga, lead by Teddy Widdel!
The event takes place Monday, November 4th beginning at 8:30 a.m., at the Hotel at Kirkwood Center, 7725 Kirkwood Blvd. SW, Cedar Rapids. Registration is required. Please contact Maria Donohoe at Heritage Area Agency on Aging at 319-398-7679 to register, or for more information.
