Belle Plaine, Iowa

The Belle Plaine City Council met in Special Session on October 16, 2019, at 5:00 p.m. in the City Council Chambers with Mayor Dave Fish presiding. Present: Judy Schlesselman, Mary Pech and Mitch Malcolm. Also present City Clerk Jacki McDermott.

Motion by Malcolm to approve the consent agenda, seconded by Pech. On roll call, all voted aye. Motion carried.

Motion by Pech, seconded by Schlesselman to enter into closed session at 5:02 p.m. , under Iowa Code 21.5 concerning the city administrator’s position to “evaluate the professional competency of an individual whose appointment, hiring, performance, or discharge is being considered when necessary to prevent needless and irreparable injury to that individual’s reputation and that individual requests a closed session. Permission was obtained from all candidates who were interviewed. On roll call, Pech voted Aye, Malcolm voted Aye, and Schlesselman voted Aye. Motion carried. Mark Tegeler arrived at 5:12 p.m.

Motion by Tegeler to come out of closed session at 8:59 p.m., seconded by Malcolm. On roll call, Tegeler voted Aye, Malcolm voted Aye, Pech voted Aye and Schlesselman voted Aye. Motion carried.

Motion by Tegeler to have the mayor offer the City Administrator job, provided all references checked out seconded by Malcolm. On roll call vote, all voted Aye, motion carried.

Motion by Tegeler to adjourn the meeting, seconded by Malcolm. On roll call vote, all voted Aye, motion carried. Meeting adjourned at 9:04 p.m.
