Belle Plaine was 29 of 78 in kills with 13 errors. Nicholaa Phillippe had 14 kills. Alyssa Tegeler added 7. Mandy Chizek had 28 assists. Phillippe had 11 digs. The team had 8 blocks. With 2 each were Grace Bean and Tegeler. The team was 65 of 69 in serves with 9 aces. Bean was 10 of 10. Chizek was 9 of 10 with 2 aces. Macy Dodd was 17 of 19 with 3 aces. Kieran Holmberg was 15 of 16 with 3 aces. Phillippe was 14 of 14 with 1 ace.

Belle Plaine (26-12) hosts Iowa Valley (16-18) in the second round on Monday, Oct. 28, at Belle Plaine, 7 p.m.

Coach Kressley’s comments: All of the girls contributed against English Valley. We made some changes defensively and the back row did a great job not letting balls drop, so out offense could put balls away. Now we get to work and get ready for an Iowa Valley victory!
