A Des Moines woman was killed in a two-vehicle accident, Saturday, Nov. 30, at the intersection of US Highway 30 and 21st Ave (Van Horne/Blairstown corner).
According to the Iowa State Patrol, Gary Louis Kinsel, 68, Omaha, Neb., was driving a 2018 Volvo tractor truck at 6:30 p.m. He was westbound on Highway 30 and approaching the intersection with 21st Ave.
Bailee Nicole Hess, 26, Des Moines, was driving a 2017 Chevrolet Trax, northbound on 21st Ave. She reportedly failed to stop and crossed under the trailer, and the vehicle came to rest in the northwest ditch.
The patrol was assisted by the Benton County Sheriff’s Office, Van Horne Fire and First Responders, Blairstown EMS/Fire, Keystone Fire, and the Benton County Medical Examiner. The accident remains under investigation.
