Minutes of Atkins City Council Meeting

May 21st, 2020

Atkins, Iowa

Council met in Special session. Members present by roll call were Heather Rinderknecht, Robert Spading and Joey Svejda. Absent: Nathan Shepard and Lana Robison. Also, present in person: Mayor Bruce Visser and Amber Bell City Clerk. Also present was Todd Damon, Atkins Public Works, Gordy Jacobsen, Kelly Scott from Snyder & Associates, Derrick Schroeder, Connie Drahos. Mayor Bruce Visser called the meeting to order at 6:30 pm.

Rinderknecht made a motion to approve the agenda for May 21st, 2020. Spading seconded to the motion. Ayes: Svejda, Rinderknecht and Spading. Nay: None. Absent: Shepard and Robison. Motion carried.

The Council and residents to a walking tour of the Atkins Business Commercial (BC) District (downtown block) of Main Avenue between Railroad Street and First Street and nearby surrounding areas. The group discussed the challenges of the general area. The group also discussed some changes or updates some would like to see. The Council also listened to concerns about the area.

The next Regular Council Meeting is Monday, June 1st, 2020 at 7:00pm at Atkins City Hall. Due to the declared State of Emergency the Council meeting will be conducted using teleconference. The Next Meeting Agenda will include instructions to access the system.

Svejda made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Rinderknecht seconded to the motion Ayes: Svejda, Rinderknecht and Spading. Nay: None. Absent: Shepard and Robison. Motion carried.
