Land use is main topic for supervisors

VINTON – Land use was the main topic for the Benton County Board of Supervisors at their meeting, Tuesday, Sept. 8, at the courthouse in Vinton.

The board approved a variance to subdivision ordinance for Craig Ollinger and Stan Geiken for land in Parcel C in Section 31, Benton Township. Ollinger wants to create a small parcel to give more room for a driveway with land from Geiken. There is no building involved. It is for 0.14 acre.

The board approved a farm exemption exemption application for Jason and Angie Sanders in Section, Eden Township. They are now in Utah. He wants to build a new home on the existing farm on the north end of the parcel. This is part of the family farm operation and they qualify for a farm exemption.

Other business

The board approved the law enforcement contract with city of Blairstown.

A resolution was approved for CARES reimbursement.

The board met with Adam Rodenberg of Middle Cedar Watershed Management Authority regarding the Lee watershed project. They discussed the depth of a pond in the project, as well as projects that are self-mitigating and new mitigation.
