Western Dubuque (16-4) defeated Benton Community (1-21) in Class 3A substate boys’ basketball action at
Western Dubuque, Epworth, 80-48, on Monday, Feb. 22, 2021.

Scoring 15 points each for Benton were Aiden Harris and Blake Daugherty. Harris also had 11 rebounds. With three assists each were Harris and Daugherty. The team was 19 of 45 for field goals, 7 of 22 for three-pointers and 3 of 7 for free throws. The team had 25 rebounds, three steals and 24 turnovers.

Dylan Johnson led Western Dubuque with 25 points. They were 31 of 62 for field goals, 7 of 21 for three-pointers and 11 of 19 for free throws. Western Dubuque had 24 rebounds, 15 steals and six turnovers.

Western Dubuque went on to face Waverly-Shell Rock, Thursday, Feb. 25, at 7 p.m. at Western Dubuque, winning, 58-37. The substate final is Monday, March 1, at Waverly, where Western Dubuque plays Decorah at 7 p.m.
