Benton Community (1-1) earned its first win of the season with a 10-0 defeat on Center Point-Urbana (0-2) on Friday, Sept. 3, at Center Point.

Colin Buch passed for 37 yards, going 5 for 13 as quarterback. With one catch each were Noah Franck, Aidan Gallery, Aiden Harris, Jacob Brecht and Will Shaw.

Benton rolled for 210 yards in rushing. Buch carries 17 times for 96 yards and a touchdown. Jacob Brecht had 24 carries for 134 yards.

Lawrence Wallace had 10 total tackles, with nine solo tackles. Brecht added six total tackles with four solo.

Buch recovered one fumble. He also had one interception. Will Shaw also snagged an interception on defense.

Easton Pfiffner had one kickoff return for 27 yards. He had one punt return for 10 yards.

Bjorn Sunessen had three kickoffs for 150 yards. Nathan Rottman was 1 for 2 in field goals, and 1 for 1 in extra points.

Buch punted seven times for 232 yards.

CPU had 83 yards passing and 121 yards rushing.

Benton hosts Marion (0-2) this Friday in Van Horne. Varsity action starts at 7:30 p.m.
