Belle Plaine opens football season with road loss at Clarksville

Belle Plaine’s football team opened it season with a non-district road loss to Clarksville, Friday, Aug. 18.

Aidan Timm was 2 of 3 in passing for 33 yards. Ty Alcott was 5 of 7 for 110 yards, one touchdown and one interception.

Belle Plaine rushed for 214 yards. Alcott carried 34 times for 194 yards and three touchdown, the longest being 11 yards. Lane Vokoun added 15 yards on four carries.

Sam DeMeulenaere had four catches for 103 yards. Alcott had one catch for five yards. Riley Simmons had two catches for 35 yards on one touchdown.

On defense, Alcott had 8.5 tackles with six solo tackles. Jeremy Reineke had 7.5 tackles, and five solo. Lane Vokoun had 6.5 tackles, five solo, and 0.5 sacks. Jax Stamp had 6.0 tackles, three solos, 0.5 sacks and four tackles for loss.

Reineke recovered two fumbles. Adyson Stark returned three kickoffs for 33 yards. Alcott returned three kickoffs for 35 yards. Simmons had five kickoffs for 158 yards.

Alcott had three punts for 116 yards. With one two-point conversion each were Wade Sankot, Sam DeMeulenaere, Vokoun and Reineke.

There were no statistics for Clarksville.

Belle Plaine (0-1) travels to HLV (0-1) on Friday, Aug. 25. The game starts at 7 p.m. The first home game is Friday, Sept. 1, against Melcher-Dallas.
