The focus was on small business success during a visit Tuesday, Aug. 22, with Congresswoman Ashley Hinson and several local officials.

She visited Drahos Shoe Store, the Moore Building which is being renovated by Brian Bock, and Nettieannes, asking how their businesses were doing and what challenges they face.

The visit was led by Kate Robertson of Benton Development Group and Ashley Drahn of Belle Plaine Community Development.

Hinson wrote on her Facebook page about the visit: “What a great afternoon meeting with family owned small businesses in Belle Plaine! We heard stories of these shops being passed down from generation to generation and I want to do everything I can to keep rural main streets like this one thriving. I’ll continue working to ensure Iowa’s small business community can continue doing what they love.”
