City Council Regular Meeting
August 7, 2023 – 6:00 PM
Mayor Boddicker opened the regular meeting at 6:00 PM.
Roll Call: Council Present: Campbell, Cross, Wendel, Rinderknecht, Seeck
Approval of the Agenda: Motion by Rinderknecht, 2nd by Cross approving the agenda, all yes, motion carried.
Public Forum: Benton County Sheriff Ron Tippett was in attendance and discussed their role in assisting the city in ordinance violations and speeding.
Department Reports
Library: April Stull presented summer reading program attendance numbers of 275-300, 35 people have attended the tai chi classes; 12 are in book club.
Public Works: Alarm at water plant was fixed; ground storage tank was cleaned; still working on west park playground; blowers at lagoon and generators will be serviced after park is done; getting quotes from LL Pelling for lines on streets and parking area; noon whistle continues to lose time, will correct again; refrigerant unit failed for sampler, fixed.
Fire: Thank you to the 8 fire departments, deputies, EMT’s, Salvation Army, and countless volunteers for assisting with the large bail fire outside of Newhall.
Parks: Campbell is meeting with Country Floors regarding carpet for batting cage; Rec Board will be meeting next Sunday.
Consent Agenda and Bill Consent: Motion by Campbell, 2nd by Wendel to approve the minutes from July 24, 2023, and bills totaling $121,362.87, all present aye, motion carried.

Council Action
a. Motion by Wendel, 2nd by Rinderknecht approving Resolution 080723 submitting question to voters on changing terms of City Council members from two years to four years, roll call vote all yes, motion carried.
b. Motion by Wendel, 2ndy by Campbell approving DSG quote for $2044.60 for work to be done this fall at the corner of 4th Street and 2nd Avenue, all yes, motion carried.
c. Motion by Cross, 2nd by Wendel to approve Touro to contact Bob Shultis and approve for him to come more often for Main Street and the Main Park plant maintenance, Cross, Campbell, Wendel, Seeck yes, Rinderknecht no, motion carried.
d. Hiring ECICOG to assist City with junk around town was tabled for them to attend the next meeting.
e. Motion by Wendel, 2nd by Seeck canceling August 14th meeting, all yes, motion carried.
f. Motion by Cross, 2nd by Campbell, approving the removal of tree located at the corner of 1st Street and 3rd Avenue for $1200 by Hupfeld, all yes, motion carried.
Adjournment: At 7:05 PM, Wendel moved to adjourn, Seeck 2nd, all present aye motion carried.
