Annabelle Newton Awarded 4-H Scholarship from Iowa 4-H Foundation
Newton is the recipient of the Duroe 4-H Scholarship

Ames, Iowa – Annabelle Newton from Benton County, was awarded the Duroe 4-H Scholarship through the Iowa 4-H Foundation at the recognition ceremony on Sunday, July 9 in Ames.
Ninety-nine Iowa 4-H scholarships valued at over $103,000 were awarded as a part of the Foundation’s scholarship recognition ceremony. Scholarships were awarded to recipients from 58 counties across the state of Iowa with a wide variety of 4-H experiences.
From the very beginning, 4-H has given Annabelle the opportunity to become more confident and embrace new opportunities. The vital communication and leadership skills developed in her over the years is palatable. By serving as an officer in her 4-H club, she was able to gain confidence in public speaking as well. She learned how to manage her time and balance activities because of 4-H. Her 4-H projects motivated her to gain a further understanding of agriculture, which she will continue to do in college. Next fall you will find Annabelle at Iowa State University studying Agricultural Education.
“Iowa 4-H Foundation scholarships acknowledge the hard work and dedication of young people who have used their 4-H skills and experiences to ‘make the best better’ for others,” said Emily Saveraid, Executive Director of the Iowa 4-H Foundation. “We also are thankful for the many scholarship donors who fund these important opportunities for Iowa 4-H’ers.”
Provided through the endowment created by the Duroe family, this scholarship is for eligible applicants residing in Buchanan, Benton, Black Hawk, Bremer, Clayton, Delaware, Fayette or Linn counties. The recipient must be attending Iowa State University or any Iowa community college pursuing a degree in agriculture or ag business.

Alex Ludeking Awarded 4-H Scholarship from Iowa 4-H Foundation
Ludeking is the recipient of the Iowa Bankers Association 4-H Scholarships
Ames, Iowa – Alex Ludeking from Benton County, was awarded the Iowa Bankers Association 4-H Scholarships through the Iowa 4-H Foundation at the recognition ceremony on Sunday, July 9 in Ames.
Ninety-nine Iowa 4-H scholarships valued at over $103,000 were awarded as a part of the Foundation’s scholarship recognition ceremony. Scholarships were awarded to recipients from 58 counties across the state of Iowa with a wide variety of 4-H experiences.
Alex has represented Iowa 4-H at the National 4-H Congress in Atlanta, Georgia and at the North American International Livestock Expo in Louisville Kentucky. Representing Iowa at such a prestigious event and evaluating some of the best livestock in the nation was an incredible experience for Alex. Alex is excited to promote agriculture and show the public how livestock is cared for. Next fall you will find Alex at Iowa State University, Alex majoring in Aerospace Engineering.

Tori Hlas Awarded 4-H Scholarship from Iowa 4-H Foundation
Hlas is the recipient of the Peyton Family 4-H Scholarship
Ames, Iowa – Tori Hlas from Benton County, was awarded the Peyton Family 4-H Scholarship through the Iowa 4-H Foundation at the recognition ceremony on Sunday, July 9 in Ames.
Ninety-nine Iowa 4-H scholarships valued at over $103,000 were awarded as a part of the Foundation’s scholarship recognition ceremony. Scholarships were awarded to recipients from 58 counties across the state of Iowa with a wide variety of 4-H experiences.
Agriculture has been a great influence on Tori’s life and her personal goals. 4-H allowed her to further her love for agriculture through sheep and photography projects. Having a passion for the agriculture industry has pointed Tori towards pursuing higher education in agricultural studies. Characteristics Tori has that have been influenced by 4-H are responsibility, leadership skills, public speaking, and working with others. These attributes help Tori every day when making choices and in the classroom. Tori will be pursuing a degree in Ag studies at Iowa State University.
Provided through the endowment created by the Peyton Family, this scholarship is for any former Iowa or Oklahoma 4-H member who has demonstrated 4-H participation with evidence of strong community service and leadership in 4-H and at Iowa State University or OSU. The applicant must be a sophomore, junior, senior or graduate student in the next academic year and pursuing a major in or related to agriculture with a minimum of a 3.0 GPA.

Josh Wiley Awarded 4-H Scholarship from Iowa 4-H Foundation
Wiley is the recipient of the Theisen’s Farm Home Auto
Ames, Iowa – Josh Wiley from Benton County, was awarded the Theisen’s Farm Home Auto through the Iowa 4-H Foundation at the recognition ceremony on Sunday, July 9 in Ames.
Ninety-nine Iowa 4-H scholarships valued at over $103,000 were awarded as a part of the Foundation’s scholarship recognition ceremony. Scholarships were awarded to recipients from 58 counties across the state of Iowa with a wide variety of 4-H experiences.
Josh’s experience in 4-H has been nothing but great times and even better people. Throughout his time as an avid 4-Her, he had the opportunity to meet many new people and connect with those who share similar passions. Josh sees 4-H as an inclusive, open minded organization who accepts and welcomes anyone and everyone who has a burning desire to make a positive change in the world. The opportunities in 4-H are endless. Because of this experience, Josh will be pursuing a degree in Animal Science from ISU.
