Van Horne Community Newsletter
November 2023
It’s getting to be that busy time of year, and there’s plenty going on in Van Horne.
- The Legion Sandwich Supper is this coming Monday the 20th from 5:30 to 7:00. Call ahead at 228-8726 for a carry-out!
- The Economic Development group’s Kickoff to Christmas is Saturday the 25th in Downtown Van Horne from 4:30 – 5:30.
- The November Community Potluck is on the 28th at the Community Center at noon with food again being provided by the Keystone Care Center. The December Potluck will be on Tuesday the 12th.
- The 2nd Annual Crooked Antler Chili Cook-off is on 12/3 from 11:00-2:00. There were 10 tasty entries last year, so bring your own to compete, or just come to enjoy them all. Proceeds will benefit the Fire Dept and First Responders.
- The Annual Businessmen’s Christmas is on 12/9 at the Community Center. Doors open at 9:30 and Santa arrives at 10:00. Pancakes and sausage, ham and turkey giveaways, Santa and toys – what more can you ask for?
A new emergency siren will be installed in the coming weeks, so be aware that you might hear some testing and calibration during that time.
Lastly, thanks to everyone who got out and voted on the 7th. With an open Council seat to fill, Mitch Schulte received 22 of the 39 write-in votes to claim it – congrats, Mitch! The Mayor’s spot and Todd Donald’s seat were uncontested, but it still means a lot to have citizens fill in the oval next to your name. – Mayor Pat Gorkow
“The only real test of intelligence is if you get what you want out of life.” – Naval Ravikant
