December 2023
It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas – except for the weather and the green grass, and that’s just fine with me.
The Businessmen’s Christmas was a big success with over 100 kids showing up to grab a toy and meet Santa. Thank you Van Horne Businessmen!
Thanks also to the Van Horne Economic Development group for sponsoring Light Up Van Horne which brought people downtown and kicked off the Christmas season.
The new trash receptacles are set to be delivered the week of December 18th. You can begin using these right away if you wish, but EZ Trash asks that you use them regularly after the first of the year. If you no longer have a need for your old recycling bin, just set it out with your trash with a note asking it to be taken.
Some upcoming events:
- Lions Bingo on Sunday December 17th from 1:00-3:00 at the Community Center

Van Horne continues to be a great place to live because of residents who take the responsibility of good citizenship seriously. Thanks to each and every one of you!

The City Council and Mayor would like to Thank Jarred Childs for his years of service as Council member of Van Horne and wish him well in his continuing endeavors. His service was greatly appreciated.
The City has received a few requests to ask drivers to please slow down in the alleys and look both ways when coming out of them. Thank you for helping with this. It could possibly save the life of a child or beloved pet.
* No changes to Garbage Recycling Pickup over the Holidays.
