Benton Community was 20 of 50 for field goals, 7 of 20 for three-poingers and 9 of 15 for free throws. They had 38 rebounds, 13 assists, four steals, six blocks, seven turnovers and eight fouls. Emma Townsley had 14 points for Benton. With 12 each were McKenna Kramer and Zoey Junge. With three assists each were Kramer and Sophia Seeck. Junge had two steals. Piper Nelson had two blocks.

Benton was 20 of 50 for field goals, 11 of 33 for three-pointers, and 5 of 7 for free throws. The Lady Bobcats had 38 rebounds, 14 assists, nine steals, four blocks, six turnovers and nine fouls. Piper Nelson led Benton with 20 points, including 4 of 8 shooting for three-pointers. Aubrey Kelly added 16 points. Zoey Junge had 10 rebounds. Emma Townsley had four assists and four steals.

This week Benton travels to West Liberty for boys/girls doubleheader on Monday, Feb. 5. They host South Tama on Tuesday, Feb. 6. On Saturday, Benton plays South Tama again at South Tama for the in a Class 3A, Region 8 basketball game, on Saturday, Feb. 10. The game starts at 7 p.m.

Vinton-Shellsburg was 13 of 38 for field goals, 4 of 18 for three-pointers and 10 of 25 for free throws. They had 27 rebounds, eight assists and nine steals, 15 turnovers and 24 fouls.

Quincy Gilbert had 14 points for Benton. Owen Tjelmeland added 12. Kolby Wenger had 11 rebounds and three assists. Ryan Spina had four steals. Jacoby Johnson led Vinton-Shellsburg with 14 points.
