Van Ree Offers A Fresh Start for Benton County

Kellie Van Ree, a lifetime Benton County resident is excited to announce her candidacy for Benton County Supervisor. She is running as a Republican for the District 1 seat in the June 4 primary.

Kellie is a 2001 graduate of Vinton-Shellsburg High School and attended Kirkwood Community College majoring in Nursing. In 2010, Kellie graduated with her Bachelor’s degree in long-term care administration. Serving in various health care roles for more than 20 years, Kellie now is the Director of Clinical Services for LeadingAge Iowa, a trade association who advocates for non-profit long-term care providers across the state.

Kellie has a vast experiencing in interpreting both federal regulations, state rules, and Iowa Code. In her current position she aids lobbyists in providing feedback to legislators at the capitol on pertinent health care bills.

Kellie brings experience in managing employees, budgets, compliance and collaboration.

While being an elected official was not really on her radar, she said the past few months of mismanaging the county has empowered her to be the “Fresh Start” Benton County needs and deserves.

Kellie’s goals while serving as a Benton County Supervisor are:

  1. Establishing a trustworthy and transparent Board of Supervisors.
  2. Ensuring equal pay and benefits for all county employees in coordination with collective bargaining agreements.
  3. Developing a positive culture for county employees.
  4. Strategic planning and revitalization to bring new residents and tourists to Benton County.
  5. Keeping property tax increases minimal and exploring alternate revenue sources.
