Dr. Christopher Stipp is from Terre Haute, Indiana. He received his BS in Biochemistry from Indiana University, Bloomington in 1989 and his PhD in Neuronal Cell Chemistry from MIT in 1996. Dr. Stipp switched fields to cancer cell biology during post-doctoral training at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston; research areas included tumor cell biochemistry and how tumor cells interact with their local environment.

Dr. Stipp became a professor at the University of Iowa in 2003 where he continued to work on tumor cell biology, invasion, and metastasis, and more recently how tumor cells respond to targeted therapies. He brings cancer biology into the classroom, teaching undergraduate Cell Biology and Cell Biology Lab, with lectures and lab class topics inspired by his own lab. Dr. Stipp’s cancer research has been funded by the American Cancer Society, the Carver Foundation, the National Cancer Institute, and the Department of Defense. His research at the University of Iowa has contributed to 24 studies published in peer-reviewed, scientific journals.
