STATE OF IOWA: COUNTY OF IOWA June 14, 2024
The Iowa County Board of Supervisors met on June 14, 2024. Heitshusen, Chairman called the
meeting to order at 9:00 a.m. Degen, Heitshusen, Maas, Montross and Schumacher were present.
Motion by Maas, seconded by Montross to approve the agenda. All aye, motion carried. Motion by Maas, seconded by Montross to approve minutes from June 7 and June 11, 2024. All aye, motion carried.
Chair Notes: The board approved handwritten claims paid with warrant numbers 31591 and claims paid with warrant numbers 31592 – 31815.
Motion by Schumacher, seconded by Maas to accept the resignation submitted by Marilyn
Rodgers from the Iowa County Pioneer Cemetery Commission. All aye, motion carried.
Pioneer Cemetery Commission appointment to vacant position will be considered at a later date.
Motion by Maas, seconded by Schumacher to approve liquor licenses, however there were no
liquor licenses presented for approval.
Motion by Maas, seconded by Montross to approve Fireworks Permit as submitted by
Compass Memorial Hospital for event to be held June 22, 2024. All aye, motion carried.
Motion by Degen, seconded by Montross to approve and authorize chair to sign Iowa County
FY25 Budget Appropriation of 100% as presented. All aye, motion carried.
Motion by Degen, seconded by Schumacher to re-appoint Dennis Hahn to the Amana
Benefited Fire Board of Trustees. All aye, motion carried.
Motion by Maas, seconded by Schumacher to approve the City of Williamsburg as Amana
Library Sponsor, subject to City approval. Per Iowa County Attorney, Tim McMeen, it is up to
the Amana Library to have a 28E Agreement in place with Williamsburg for future sponsorship.
All aye, motion carried.
Motion by Montross, seconded by Degen to approve consideration of $8,400.00 for the
purchase price of Parcel ID # 12404016. Property sought by the American Legion Post 76.
Ayes, Degen, Heitshusen, Maas and Montross. Schumacher, nay, motion carried.
Nick Amelon, Iowa County Engineer met with the board to present the department update on
construction, road maintenance, office miscellaneous and ROW Payment Policy.
Motion by Maas, seconded by Montross to approve Hawk A Model A Ford Club Road
Closure request for August 17, 2024. All aye, motion carried.
Motion by Maas, seconded by Montross to approve and authorize the Auditor to process
Quarterly Transfer from Rural Basic Fund to Secondary Roads Fund of $328,750.00. All aye,
motion carried.
Dylan Healey, Iowa County Building Maintenance met with the board to go over the Building
Maintenance monthly update.
Vic Rathje, an Iowa County resident met with the board to discuss changes to the Iowa County
Tax Statements to include Debt Service Levies. The county is currently researching options and will consider them at a later date.
Motion by Maas, seconded by Montross to adjourn at 10:14 a.m. All aye, motion carried.
