VINTON – It was routine business for the Benton Count Board of Supervisors at their meeting on Tuesday, July 9, at the service center in Vinton.
The board approved a Class E Retail Alcohol License for Beyond Getaway at Lazy Acres. This is for an offsite premise.
The quarterly report was approved for the auditor. The recorder’s report was tabled.
A fireworks permit was approved for Iowa Pyrotechnic Association on July 20, 2024.
Credit card
The credit card limit was discussed for human resources, raising it from $2,500 to $5,000. This led to a discussion on credit card policy for the county, invoices, vendors, taxes and fees. This is for implementation of a HRIS program, which charges $3,200 a month.
The board approved raising the limit to $6,000 limit until the end of September. Supervisor Tracy Seeman also wanted to be sure the county is not paying a sales tax on this service. He also wanted to see the background check service turned into a vendor.
Reports
Seeman said conservation is working on REAP grants. Wildcat is getting a engineer for the park’s shower house. Supervisor Gary Bierschenk asked about conservation and the Atkins rail area. Seeman said they are in talks with the city on what to do.
Sheriff Ron Tippett said the radios are installed and working well. They will soon do a driving test, making sure they work on every mile of Benton County, Seeman added.
After the meeting, Dave Sires introduced himself as a Republican candidate for state senate for District 38. District 38 covers the northwest part of the county.
