VINTON – It was a routine meeting for the Benton County Board of Supervisors, Tuesday, July 23, 2024, at the service center in Vinton.

Shelby Williams, Benton County Conservation, discussed the REAP grant agreement.

The board also signed the single federal audit. She gave a staffing update.

The old animal shelter was discussed. She asked about moving forward with selling the property, and where the proceeds are to go between general and conservation. It less than one acre and was donated to Benton County Conservation years ago. Supervisor Tracy Seeman suggested splitting the proceeds between general and conservation funds. The board approved selling the old shelter and the proceeds go into conservation projects at Wildcat and Rodgers.

Mona Onken, social services, discussed the access hub contract and rate sheet. The contract and sheet were both approved.

A plan was signed for Project BROS-CO06(123)—8J-06-Bridge Replacement on 26th Ave. Dr. in Taylor Township. This is northeast of the Vinton quarry. The letting is in November.

The board approved a Committed Funds Resolution in accordance with GASB 54.

Driveway and road concerns were brought up by a rural Benton County resident, and the use of concrete and asphalt. Another resident talked about dust control with Benton County Engineer Myron Parizek, and the impact of increased traffic on a county road due to the Highway 150 project.

Phil Borleske of Benton County Historic Preservation Commission sought information from the board about working space. Borleske said the commission “lost its digs” and wondered where they can put their filing cabinets. Seeman pointed to equipment in the conference room for use by the commission.
