City of Atkins City Council Meeting Special Session
Tuesday, August 6, 2024 at 6:30 p.m.
City Hall Council Room, 480 Third Avenue, Atkins, Iowa, 52206
Mayor Bruce Visser called the meeting to order at 6:30 pm.
Present were Council members David Fisher, Samantha Petersen, and Jim Koehn in
person, and EJ Bell and Trevor Dursky by phone. Also present were Interim City
Administrator Sandi Fowler and Al Buck and Michael Fritz of Solum Lang Architects,
and members of the public.
Petersen moved to approve the agenda. Fisher seconded. Ayes: Bell, Dursky, Fisher,
Koehn and Petersen. Nays: None. Motion carried.
Petersen moved to approve a 5-day Special Class C Retail Alcohol License for
Watermelon Days to Atkins Community Club, 401 2nd Avenue, August 7-11, 2024.
Seconded by Koehn. Ayes: Bell, Dursky, Fisher, Koehn and Petersen. Nays: None.
Motion carried.
Petersen moved to approve the List of Bills. Seconded by Fisher. Ayes: Bell, Dursky,
Fisher, Koehn and Petersen. Nays: None. Motion carried.
Al Buck and Michael Fritz presented Fire Station Project re-design plans and had
discussion with Council about site layout options provided and the structure of
construction documents to be provided. Changes discussed will be incorporated and
presented to the Council at the next work session. The next work session was
requested to be on Monday, August 19 at 6:30 pm.
Council member Petersen moved to adjourn the meeting, seconded by Koehn. Motion
carried. Ayes: Bell, Dursky, Fisher, Petersen, and Koehn. Nays: None. Motion carried.
Meeting adjourned at 7:52 pm.
