Meeting scheduled for Oct. 14, local leaders and general public invited to attend

VINTON, Iowa (Oct. 1, 2024)–Kirkwood Community College will hold the first meeting of the institution’s Benton County Leadership Council on Oct. 14, from 1-2:30 p.m., at the Kirkwood Benton County Center in Vinton. Kirkwood President Kristie Fisher, college officials, local community leaders and members of the general public are all expected to be in attendance.

The goal of the County Leadership Council is to bring key stakeholders together for a discussion about how Kirkwood’s impactful resources are utilized in their community. The topics discussed will relate to the college’s work throughout Benton County including workforce development, current trends, college statistics, common areas of interest, new opportunities and economic impact among others. In addition, college leaders would like to hear from attendees about how Kirkwood can help address the pressing education, training and workforce needs of Benton County.

To Kirkwood Benton County Center Director Kasey Keeling, the meeting will be an incredible learning opportunity for both attendees and college officials.

“Kirkwood Community College has a long history of serving Benton County,” said Keeling. “We want to invite the public to attend the County Leadership Council meeting to learn more about Kirkwood’s educational and economic impact, as well as how we are partnering with schools, businesses, and other organizations to offer great opportunities in our area. We welcome new ideas and input from council members, as well as the general public, and look forward to learning from one another on how to best meet the needs of the county.”
