Routine business for supervisors

VINTON – It was routine business for the Benton County Board of Supervisors at their meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2025, at the service center in Vinton. 

Quarterly reports were approved for the auditor and sheriff. 

A Class C Retail Liquor License was approved for Walnut Ridge venue. 

A land use change hearing was set for Tuesday, Nov. 4, 9:15 a.m. for Cole Baumgartner for land in Section 7, Polk Township. This is for a single residence.

In reports, Supervisor Ron Tippett had a meeting with Central Iowa Juvenile Detention Board. The detention board is working on getting a new CEO. 

Supervisors Tracy Seeman reported he has received a lot of phone calls regarding safety shoes, which was discussed at the previous week’s meeting. He said the board should have a meeting with the safety committee before they go any further. 

The board also discussed the conservation property that is for sale. 

The board was asked about the use of outside counsel and how to track this. 

There was also discussion on the painting of asphalt roads in the county.
