CITY OF VAN HORNE
Regular Council Meeting March 9, 2026 6:30 P.M. The meeting was called to order at Van Horne City Hall at 6:30 p.m. by Mayor Gorkow. Council Present: Parmenter, Schulte, Donald, Knaack, Fisher Council Absent: Others Present: Jared Vogeler, Debra Miner, Robert Kelley
Motion by Fisher to approve Agenda. Seconded by Knaack, all ayes, motion carried.
Motion by Parmenter to approve the Minutes of the February 9, 2026 Council Meeting. Seconded by Donald all ayes, motion carried.
Letter from Van Horne Zoning Board regarding concerns of City of Van Horne not addressing Zoning violations and the Board of Adjustments allowing many exceptions and variances. The Board wants to make sure that if they spend the time and energy and the City spends the money to update these Ordinances that they will be followed.
City of Van Horne FY25 Exam was presented to the Council for review. City Clerk addressed any questions and explained any findings.
Robert Kelley was in attendance to discuss the possibility of Van Horne allowing chickens. At this time the Council is not in favor.
Discussion regarding rock at the Elementary School drop off and light in Lutheran parking lot was held.

The meeting was called to order at Van Horne City Hall at 6:30 p.m. by Mayor Gorkow. Council Present: Parmenter, Schulte, Donald, Knaack, Fisher Council Absent: none Others Present: none Motion by Schulte to approve Agenda. Seconded by Parmenter, all ayes, motion carried. Mayor Gorkow opened Public Hearing for Proposed Tax Levy FY27 at 6:30 p.m.. There were no written or public comments. Mayor Gorkow closed the Public Hearing at 6:32 p.m.
Arick Martin had requested that the City vacate the street next to his home at 6th and Northview. Council felt that this would interfere if the City was ever to grow to the north with street access and utility looping. No motion was made. Request to Martin was denied due to lack of Council motion.
Motion by Fisher to adjourn at 6:36 p.m.. Seconded by Donald all ayes, motion carried.

RESOLUTION 2026-470 setting April 13, 2026 as the public hearing date for the FY27 budget was presented to the Council. Motion by Knaack to approve Resolution 2026- 470. Seconded by Donald, all ayes, motion carried. Motion by Schulte to adjourn at 6:39 p.m.. Seconded by Fisher all ayes, motion carried.
