Benton County Sheriff
David C Upah, Republican
My name is David B. Upah and I am a Republican candidate running for the office of Benton County Sheriff. I am happily married to my wife, Jessie, and together, we are a blended family with five beautiful children. Our family resides on an acreage located outside of Atkins. I am a proud native of Urbana and have spent most of my life in Benton County. My journey has been shaped by the unwavering support and guidance of my parents, David and Susie Upah. Our family has deep ties to Benton County and the Belle Plaine area.
While growing up in Urbana, I developed close friendships with Deputies from the Benton County Sheriff’s Office and members of the Urbana Police Department. I have always held law enforcement in high regard, deeply respecting their dedication and service. Encouraged by my then father-in-law, who had served as a Benton County Deputy, I decided to apply for a position within the department. After riding with a Deputy Sheriff just once, I knew that law enforcement was my calling.
I am committed to serving the citizens of Benton County because this is my home. I take immense pride in supporting and assisting the individuals I encounter. Over the past 18 years, serving this community has become ingrained in my identity. Benton County is a place of great fortune with exceptional law enforcement, excellent schools, thriving small businesses, and some of the kindest people you will ever meet. I am honored to contribute to the safety and well-being of this community that has given me so much.
One of the most pressing issues in Benton County is the lack of effective communication between our citizens and law enforcement. The residents of our county are law enforcement’s greatest asset in sharing information about criminal activity and concerns within our community. To address this, we urgently need to establish trust and better communication between the public and law enforcement. By fostering stronger relationships and encouraging open communication, we can enhance community safety and tackle issues more effectively. This will create and ensure a safer environment for all citizens in Benton County.
If elected Sheriff, I will be committed to enhancing communication with the public. I will prioritize the safety of schools and the community. I will ensure timely updates and transparent communication regarding significant events in Benton County. Through measures as press releases, I will aim to keep the community of Benton County informed about important law enforcement developments.
I would be honored to serve as your Sheriff of Benton County. Let’s “Raise the Bar” together.
Sincerely,
Senior Deputy David Upah of Benton County Sheriff’s Office
