Winkie Foundation, UNI and Department on Aging to host event

The Wallace Winkie Foundation is partnering with the University of Northern Iowa’s Lifelong University, the Iowa Department on Aging to host an event September 17.

The event’s keynotes speakers are Dan Gable and Jerry Harrington, an award-winning Iowa author. There are three areas of breakout sessions (history, religion, and wellness) that range in subject from hidden Iowa history to Tai Chai to the role of women in religion. People can pick whichever sessions they want to attend. One of the presenters is Fran Magdefrau of Belle Plaine and another is Mike Musel, formerly of Belle Plaine. 

The event is September 17 in Tama Hall on the Hawkeye Community College campus, 9 – 2:45. Registration is $25 and the price includes morning coffee and pastries and the noon meal.  Register by calling 319-434-2079 or visiting the event website ( on or before September 10.
