- Coach Jeff Zittergruen’s comments: Friday night we probably played our most complete game in all three phases of the game all year long. Our defense did a great job defending the run against a team that is very good at rushing the football. We were able to control the line of scrimmage which was huge on both sides of the ball. Offensively Clay did a nice job of directing the offense and mixing up the run and pass to keep West Marshall off balance. Turner Schroeder had a big night catching the ball and broke a 50-year old school record of John Tiedemann with 242 receiving yards. And special teams did a great job in getting us quality field position. Now focus has to shift to a big week 9 game against that team up north!
- West Marshall had 152 yards passing and 135 yards rushing.

- Coach Todd Bohlen’s comments: We did a great job of controlling the line of scrimmage and simply running the ball and moving the chains. We never had to punt the entire night and our offense did a great job of sustaining drives which in turn kept Pekin’s offense off the field. We were able to secure a playoff birth and win the district in the process, a great accomplishment for a group of kids that weren’t picked by many to even finish in the top half of the district.
