Benton was 61 of 178 in kills with 22 errors. Abby Brunssen had 37 kills. Kayla Lambe added 13. Grace Embretson had 51 assists. With 19 digs each were Abby Brunssen and Lambe. Mallory Thys added 14 digs. The team had 96 serves with 4 errors and 1 ace. Lambe had 22 serves. Chloe Meeks had 22 serves with 1 two errors and 1 ace.

Coach Mike Embretson’s comments: Solon came ready to play. We knew it was going to be a challenge, it was the third time we faced them in two weeks. In the second set we started to settle down and stick with our game plan. Down by 7 points, we had to chip away at the lead, we were not going to get it all in one swing. The girls stepped up our game a whole. What a great time to bring it all together. It was a true team effort.

Action continues in Class 3A, Region 6, on Tuesday, Oct. 29, when Benton (17-22) travels to Davenport to face top-ranked Davenport Assumption (30-5). Action begins at 7 p.m.
