Greetings Van Horne Area Residents!
Wow, winter came early and I guess let’s just hope it doesn’t stick around the whole season starting this early. I would ask, that if you can, try to keep street parking at a minimum during snow events so that Jared and Mike can plow the roads in an efficient manner. I know this is not possible for everyone, but see what you can do.
Veterans Day has come and gone, but I do want to thank each and every Veteran for their service to our country. Thank you.
A few upcoming dates. Sunday, November 17 Lions breakfast at community room. Monday, November 18 the Legion tenderloin fry. November 30 the Dorcus Guild at the Methodist Church is having a Nativity walk at the Community Room. Santa comes to Van Horne at the community room Saturday, December 14 pancake breakfast at 11 a.m. with Santa, toys and ham and turkey giveaway to follow, sponsored by the Business Persons Group.
And I guess it doesn’t seem possible but Thanksgiving on the 28th. As I write this we do not know who won the second seat on the town council as there was a tie. Who says your vote doesn’t count? The supervisors will draw a name out of a hat to pick the winner on Tuesday.
Your thought for the month from Ann Landers: It is not what you do for your children, but what you have taught them to do for themselves, that will make them successful human beings. Think about that.
Thanks and have a great rest of the month as well as Thanksgiving. Your Mayor Marty.
