We have held our last council meeting of the year, and I have been sworn in for another term as your Mayor to begin in 2020. We also swore in Todd Donald and Jarred Childs as new council members. The council and I would like to thank Craig Ivester and Connie Donald for serving during the last while as council members. It is a lot of times a thankless job that only comes to attention when someone has a problem. They were both great council members. Thank You for serving your community.
Thanks to the O’Brien Family for donating and installing a new welcome to Van Horne sign as you come into town from the east. The sign is in dedication to their late mother Mary, so think of her smile and infectious laugh as you come into town and see the sign. Thank you to the O’Brien family.
Again for citizens that read this online, Saturday December 14 is Santa day in town. The Business group will have a free pancake and sausage breakfast starting at 10:30 with Santa and giveaways of toys, turkeys and hams to follow at the community room.
The Sons of the Legion will have their tenderloin and chicken dinner on Monday the 16th.
Tis the Season. As we wind down another year on the calendar it is time to reflect on the good times and things that have crossed your path this year. It is time to spend some time with family and friends during the Holiday Season, for that is what life is all about. Also maybe make that extra wave or a happy smile as you meet family, friends or even strangers where your travels take you this Christmas Season.
Your thought for the month! From Erma Bombeck. “As I stand before God at the end of my life, I would hope that I would not have a single bit of talent left and could say, I used everything you gave me.”
Thanks and have a great rest of the month as well as a great Christmas and New Years. Your Mayor Marty

Please email email@example.com if interested or for more information on volunteering your time and leadership for the Rec Board.
