Benton (13-9) closed its season in the first round of the 3A girls’ basketball tournament, 59-56, to WaMaC rival Williamsburg (8-14) at Williamsburg on Feb. 15. Freshman Jenna Twedt scored 24 for Benton. Alyse Harvey added 10, with three three-pointers. Lauren Woeste had 8 rebounds. With 2 assists each were Twedt, Mallory Thys and Harvey. Woeste also had 2 steals. The team was 20 of 53 for field goals, 7 of 19 for three-pointers and 9 of 17 for free throws. The team had 34 rebounds. Quik Stats. Belle Plaine’s boys’ basketball team closed its regular season Friday, Feb. 14, with a non-conference loss to Lone Tree, 83-72, at Lone Tree. Ben DeMeulenaere led Belle Plaine with 24 points. Noah Bachelder added 21, including 5 three-pointers. Ben DeMeulenaere also had 17 rebounds. Trevin Straight had 6 assists. With two steals each were Straight and Bachelder.
