COUNCIL: Atkins votes on urban chicken ordinance

Minutes of Atkins City Council Meeting
April 6th, 2020 Atkins, Iowa

Council met in Regular session. Members present by roll call via teleconference application Webex, were Robert Spading, Heather Rinderknecht, Nathan Shepard, Lana Robison and Joey Svejda. Absent: None. Also, present in person: Mayor Bruce Visser and Amber Bell City Clerk. Dan Rammelsberg and Tom Gerhold also called into the teleconference. Mayor Bruce Visser called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm.
Spading made a motion to approve the consent agenda for April 6th, 2020 Including:
City Council Minutes March 16th, 2020, with the correction of the next council date of April6th, 2020 and that the meeting was conducted by Heather Rinderknecht acting as Mayor Protem.

Shepard made a motion to approve the second reading OF ORDINANCE 217 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF ATKINS, IOWA, BENTON COUNTY, BY AMENDING SECTION 55A.06, SUBSECTION (A), PROVISIONS PERTAINING TO URBAN CHICKEN ENCLOSURES. Rinderknecht seconded the motion. Ayes: Svejda, Rinderknecht, Robison, Spading and Shepard. Nay: None. Absent: None. Motion carried.
Spading made a motion to suspend the rules, to proceed with a third and final reading of the ORDINANCE 217 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF ATKINS, IOWA, BENTON COUNTY, BY AMENDING SECTION 55A.06, SUBSECTION (A), PROVISIONS PERTAINING TO URBAN CHICKEN ENCLOSURES.
Robison seconded the motion. Ayes: Svejda, Rinderknecht, Robison, Spading and Shepard.
Nay: None. Absent: None. Motion carried.
The Council discussed the City of Atkins response of the COVID – 19 Emergency. The Council also discussed Public Works updates.
The next Regular Council Meeting date for Monday, April 20th, 2020 at 7:00PM at Atkins City Hall, 480 3rd Ave, Atkins. Due to the declared State of Emergency the Council meeting will be conducted using teleconference. The Next Meeting Agenda will include instructions to access the system.
Shepard made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Robison seconded to the motion. Ayes: Svejda, Rinderknecht, Robison, Spading and Shepard. Nay: None. Absent: None. Motion carried.
