Benton Baseball at Willamsburg

Belle Plaine’s Noah Bachelder started for Belle Plaine in their first game of the season against BGM.

Benton 5, Williamsburg 3

Benton had 6 hits. Ian Rupp was 2 for 3. Brady Sadler had 1 RBI. Drew Lange was 2 for 2 with double and 2 RBIs. Landen Schmuecker had a home run. Turner Schroeder had a double. Brady Sadler started, threw 3.7 innings, allowed 2 hits, 1 earned run and struck out 5. He also walked 5. Cade Timmerman threw for 2 outs, allowed no hits, walked no and struck out no one. Lange threw for 2 2/3rds innings, allowed 3 hits, 2 runs, 1 earned run and walked 3. He struck out 2. Williamsburg had 5 hits.

Williamsburg 7, Benton 6

Benton had 6 hits. Lange was 2 for 4 with a double and 2 RBIs. Schmuecker had a double and 2 RBIs. The team had 2 errors and allowed 8 hits. Schroeder started on the mound, allowed 5 hits, 4 earned runs, walked 2 and struck out 5. Cade Timmerman threw for 1 1/3 innings, allowed no hits, three earned runs, walked 3 and struck out 4. Lane Kaestner threw 2 2/3 innings, allowed 3 hits, no runs, walked 1 and struck out 3.

Benton had 5 hits. Alyse Harvey was 2 for 3 with 1 RBI. Sarah Gorkow had a double and 2 RBIs. Benton had 3 errors. Katelyn Buscher started on the mound, throwing for 5 innings, allowing 6 hits, 8 runs, 6 earned runs, walked 6 and struck out 2. Hope Moore threw for 1 inning, allowed no hits or runs and walked one.

Benton had 6 hits. Buscher was 3 for 4 with a double and 1 RBI. Brielle Hogan was 3 for 4 with a double and 1 RBI. Megan Gorkow had a double and 2 RBIs. The team had 2 errors. Hope Moore started, throw 2 2/3 innings, allowing 7 hits, 4 earned runs, walking 1 and striking out 1. Jessa DeMoss threw for 3 1/3 innings, allowed 8 hits, 10 earned runs and walked 7.

Belle Plaine lost in its opening game, 14-13, despite a 12-run effort in the fifth inning.

Kiley Alcott had 4 hits, 2 runs, 2 RBIs and had a double. Lilly Parrot was 2 for 3 with 1 RBI. Jacey Rieneke was 3 for 4 with 1 RBI. Tori Hlas was 2 for 4 with a double and 2 RBIs. Alyssa Tegeler was 2 for 4 with a double and 2 RBIs. Jenna Fry had 2 RBIs. Lillian Fowler was 2 for 4. The team had 14 hits. The team also had 4 errors.

Alcott threw for 5 1/3 innings, allowed 4 hits, 7 runs, 2 earned runs, walked 5 and struck 4 and walked 5. She hit 2 batters. Breanna Cook threw for 1 2/3 innings, allowed 6 hits, 6 runs, 4 earned runs, walked 1 and struck out 2.

Belle Plaine had 7 hits. Jaxon Kressley was 2 for 4 with 1 RBI. Trevin Straight had a boule and 2 RBIs. Jack Schwenn drove in one run. Jackson Tegeler also drove in one run. Starting pitcher Noah Bachelder threw for 5 innings, allowed 7 hits, 2 earned runs, 4 runs, walked 1 and struck out none. Trevin Straight threw 3 2/3 innings, allowed 3 hits, 2 earned runs and struck out 5.

Benton Community lost in non-conference action Tuesday, June 16, at home to Grinnell, 9-3.

Benton had 3 hits. Brady Sadler was 2 for 3 with 2 RBIs and a double. Cade Timmerman added 1 RBI. The team had 1 error. Aiden Harris started and threw for 3 innings, gave up 6 hits, 5 earned runs, walked 1 and struck out 3. Aidan Thompson threw for 3 innings, allowed 3 hits, 2 runs, 1 earned run, walked 5 and struck out 2. Justise McFarland closed for 1 inning, allowed 1 hit, 2 earned runs, walked 2 and struck out no one.

Colfax-Mingo 9, Belle Plaine 4

Belle Plaine had 4 hits in the SICL road loss to Colfax-Mingo. Kiley Alcott was 2 for 4. Lilly Parrott was also 2 for 4 with a double. Jacey Rieneke, Alyssa Tegeler and Breanna Cook had 1 RBI each. Tory Hlas had a double. The team had 5 errors. Cook threw for 4 2/3 innings, allowed 3 hits, 2 runs, 1 earned run, walked 2 and struck out 7. Kiley Alcott allowed 5 hits, 7 runs, 1 earned run, walked 1 and struck out 2.

Colfax-Mingo 10, Belle Plaine 1

Belle Plaine was held to two hits. Jaxson Kressley had 1 RBI. Jack Schwenn had a double. The team had 4 errors. Colfax-Mingo had 9 hits. Jackson Tegeler started and threw for 1 1/3 innings. He allowed 5 hits, 7 runs, 5 earned runs, walked 1 and struck out 2. Kressley threw for 1 inning and walked one. Connor Timm threw for 1 1/3 innings, allowed 1 hit, 1 earned run and walked 6. Patrick Shaull threw for 2 1/3 innings, allowed 3 hits, 2 earned runs, walked two and struck out three.

Benton had 8 hits. Emma Townsley was 4 for 5 and scored one. Gabby McKee and Brielle Hogan had 2 RBIs each. Jaida Lyons had a double and 2 RBIs. Benton had no errors. Katelyn Buscher was the winning pitcher, allowing 6 hits, 1 earned run, walked 2 and struck out 2.

Benton 5, Marion 4

Benton won the second game on the road, 5-4, at Marion. They Lady Bobcats had 8 hits. Buscher was 2 for 3. McKee had a double and 1 RBI. Hogan had 2 RBIs. Megan Gorkow had 1 RBI. The team had 4 errors. Hope Moore started for 3 innings, allowed 4 hits, 3 runs, 2 earned runs, walked 2 and struck out 1. Buscher threw for 3 innings, allowed 1 hit, 1 earned run, walked 2 and struck out 1. Jessa DeMoss threw for 1 inning, allowed 2 hits and walked one.

Benton 9, Marion 7

Benton swept Marion in WaMaC action on the road Thursday, June 18, winning the first baseball game, 9-7. The team had 9 hits. Ian Rupp was 2 for 4 with a double. Cade Timmerman was 2 for 4 with 2 RBIs. Landen Schmuecker was 2 for 4 with 2 RBIs and 2 doubles. Aiden Harris had 2 RBIs. The team had 1 error. Jack McGovern started on the mound, threw for 3 innings, allowed 5 hits, 3 earned runs, walked 1 and struck out 1. Cade Timmerman threw for 1 2/3 innings, allowed 1 hit, no runs and walked 1. Drew Lange threw for 3 1/3 innings, allowed 5 hits, 4 earned runs, walked 2 and struck out 2.

Benton 4, Marion 1

The Bobcats had 8 hits in the second game. Turner Schroeder was 3 for 4 with a home run and 1 RBI. Rupp was 2 for 3 with 2 RBIs. Schmuecker had 1 RBI. Benton had only 1 errors. Schmuecker threw for 7 innings, allowed 4 hits, 1 earned run, walked no one and struck out 3.

Benton is 3-2 overall in their first week, and 3-1 in the WaMaC West.
