Lap quilt raffle raises money for CLIMB

LAP QUILT RAFFLE —This lap quilt-40” X 48”- was offered by raffle from February 12th until April 1st , 2020 originally by the Wednesday volunteers of BCVP. Items made by the young men of Accolade for Saving Lives were available by donation as well. ASL is a part of CLIMB for Haiti that seeks to impact these young men’s lives as well as their families and neighbors. Due to the impact of the Covid Virus volunteers did not meet as a group for many weeks. When we were able to meet again the drawing was extended to July 8th, 2020. CLIMB for Haiti was chosen to receive the amount raised in this effort..
The volunteers of the Benton County Volunteer Program met for a regular Wednesday meeting July, 8, 2020 and Nelva Peterson was the recipient of the lap quilt drawing. The quilt was made from scraps of material used by the Wednesday volunteers of BCVP when assembling and filling pillows. These pillows BCVP cuts, sews and fills are horseshoe shaped pillows used by patients after breast surgery and heart shaped pillows for use by patients after heart surgery. These have been shared to Unity Point Hospital and Mercy Hospital in Cedar Rapids and Virginia Gay in Vinton, IA.

$130 was raised by the volunteers. They chose to support CLIMB for Haiti with the results of those efforts. CLIMB for Haiti has a web site to learn of their many continued efforts in Haiti. That web site is www.CLIMBforhaiti.org Thank you so much to all who participated. Check out the progress, photos and blogs.
