Vinton sweeps Benton in volleyball

Benton’s Grace Embretson hits the ball in WaMaC volleyball action between Benton and Vinton-Shellsburg. The Vikettes won, 3-0.

Benton traveled to Vinton-Shellsburg Thursday, Sept. 3, and lost, 3-0, in WaMaC volleyball action.

Grace Embretson had 12 assists for Benton. Addison Phillips added 9. The team had 25 kills, led by Embretson with 8. Phillips added 6. Emma Townsley had 8 digs. Olivia Janss added 7. Embretson had 6.

The team was 48 of 53 in serves with six aces. With two aces each were Phillips and Embretson. Janss was 6 of 6. Townsley was 8 of 10 with 1 ace. Hope Moore was 4 of 4 with 1 ace. Caitlin Keiper was 9 of 10. Phillips was 11 of 11. Embretson was 9 of 9. Piper Nelson was 1 of 1.
