Belle Plaine gets win at Vinton-Shellsburg

Belle Plaine went 3-2 at the Vinton-Shellsburg Tournament on Saturday, Sept. 5, in girls’ volleyball action.

Belle Plaine topped Vinton-Shellsburg, 2-1. Mandy Chizek had 23 assists. Alyssa Tegeler had 11 kills, Nicholaa Phillippe added nine. Kieran Holmberg had 10 digs. The team was 41 of 46 in serves with 5 aces. Holmberg was 11 of 12 with 3 aces. Tegeler was 6 of 6 with 1 ace. Chizek was 7 of 7. Phillippe was 6 of 6. Jacey Reineke was 7 of 9 with 1 ace. Jacy Gates was 3 of 3.

Belle Plaine then lost to West Delaware, 2-0. Chizek had 8 assists. Tegeler had 6 kills. Holmberg had 5 digs. The team was 25 of 26 in serves with 1 ace. Holmberg was 5 of 6. Tegeler was 8 of 8. Chizek was 5 of 5. Philippe was 3 of 3. Grace Bean was 2 of 2, as was Reineke.

Benton defeated South Tama, 2-1, in the first match. Grace Embretson had 16 assists. Addison Phillips had six kills. Olivia Janss and Emma Townsley had eight digs each. The team was 46 of 54 in serves with six aces. Janss was 1 of 1. Janelle Morris was 2 of 2. Townsley was 14 of 16 with two aces. Sophia Carlson was 1 of 1. Hope Moore was 2 of 2. Caitlin Keiper was 10 of 11 with two aces. Embretson was 8 of 10 with two aces. Kiah Coffin was 5 of 7. Emma Drahos was 3 of 4.
