Belle Plaine wins second round of 1A tournament

Belle Plaine (25-8) defeated a tough Central City (13-12) volleyball team in five games, 3-2, in Class 1A Region 7 volleyball action, Wednesday, Oct. 21, at Belle Plaine.

Belle Plaine faces SICL rival Montezuma (14-6) in the next round, at Belle Plaine on Monday, Oct. 26. The regional final is Wednesday, Oct. 28, at 7 p.m. at Benton Community, Van Horne.

Mandy Chizek had 37 assists in five games. The team was 46 of 138 for kills with 17 errors. Alyssa Tegeler had 18 kills. Nicholaa had 11 kills. Tegeler also had nine blocks. Chizek added eight. Jacey Reineke had 23 digs. Chizek added 21. Tegeler had 17.

The team was 97 of 103 in serves with seven aces. Kieran Holmberg was 12 of 13 with one ace. Tegeler was 15 of 16 with one ace. Chizek was 22 of 23 with one ace. Phillippe was 12 of 13 with one ace. Grace Bean was 18 of 20 with two aces. Reineke was 18 of 18 with one ace.

On the other side of the bracket for Region 7 are No. 7 Springville (25-4) and Prince of Peace (20-9-1)
