Van Horne Newsletter – December 2020

Santa Claus was in town.

Van Horne Community Newsletter

December 2020

 Greetings Van Horne Area Residents!

What a year we have been through, 2021 can’t get here fast enough for me. Between the virus and the derecho it has been a very stressful year for everyone, now you throw the Holidays in there and people are in panic mode. Make sure you slow down and take care of yourselves. Remember if it doesn’t get done it won’t matter in a week. This is going to be a pretty short newsletter, there is not a lot happening in town.

The Santa event on the 12th went well and  hopefully provided a little joy for the kids in town. I need to thank the Fire Department, and the First Responders for providing the transportation for Santa and also the Business Group for providing the toys and doing the delivery. Snow on the ground and flurries coming down  provided for a good environment

Remember, you if you are on Van Horne cable for TV. you need to do an alternate by the year end. That’s about all I’ve got. Your thought for the month from Kevin Kruse. Life isn’t about getting and having, it  is about giving and being.

Thanks and have a great Christmas and New Year and enjoy closing out 2020.

Your Mayor Marty

FUTURE GREEN: Future Green is looking for new members to help get new trees planted in Van Horne. The last few years, the group has struggled to find places to plant trees and to get volunteer hours. Now that Derecho 2020 has provided many bare spots in town. We need new members to get Future Green active again. The goal is to meet quarterly, more if needed, and to once again qualify for Tree City USA and to apply for grants to plant trees. If you are interested in helping or donating, please contact Darcy (319-361-0290) or Lou (641-660-6188)..

SATURDAY GARBAGE/RECYCLE PICKUP December 26 & January 2nd.
