A big fourth quarter sealed a win for Benton Community’s girls’ basketball team (6-2), Tuesday, Jan. 5, 2020, at Van Horne, defeating Clear Creek Amana (6-2), 53-39.
Jenna Twedt led Benton with 19 points. McKenna Kramer added 15 points, with 5 of 8 shooting for three-pointers. Twedt also had five rebounds and three steals. She also had four assists. The team was 18 of 50 for field goals, 9 of 27 for three-pointers and 8 of 11 for free throws. The team had 31 rebounds and 11 turnovers.

Benton Community (6-3) lost in girls’ WaMaC basketball action Friday, Jan. 8, at Van Horne, to Marion (5-4), 58-48.
Sophomore Jenna Twedt scored 31 for Benton, including 7 of 14 shooting for three-pointers. Grace Embretson had eight rebounds and four assists. Twedt also had seven steals and two blocks. The team was 15 of 59 from the field, 8 of 33 for three-pointers and 10 of 18 for free throws. The team had 37 rebounds and 10 turnovers.
Benton travels to Waverly-Shell Rock, Monday, Jan. 11, then goes to South Tama on Tuesday, Jan. 12. They then travel to Independence on Friday, Jan. 15.

Aiden Harris led Benton with 14 points and eight rebounds. Isaac Cretin had three assists. The team was 15 of 48 for field goals, 3 of 23 for three-pointers and 4 of 11 for free throws. The team had 31 rebounds and 19 turnovers.
