Benton (6-0) picked a big non-conference win over Xavier (3-5) at Van Horne, 11-9. Benton had 15 hits. Townsley was 2 for 3. Alyse Harvey was 3 for 4 with three doubles and one RBI. Jesse DeMoss had a home run and three RBIs. Katelyn Buscher was 2 for 4 with a home run and three RBIs. Hope Moore was 2 for 3. Ana Glawe was 2 for 4 with a home runs and three RBIs. Jaida Lyons was 2 for 4 with a double. Megan Kenny had one RBI. Townsley stole two bases. Moore stole one. The team had three errors. DeMoss threw for two-thirds of an inning, allowed two hits, one run, walked one and struck out none. Buscher pitched in relief for six innings, allowed four hits, no runs, walked two and struck out one. Moore closed for the final out, allowed five hits, eight runs, four earned runs and walked two.

Mount Vernon topped Benton in the first game of a double header, 15-0. Benton had two hits, with a single from Cade Timmerman and a double from Casey Gallagher. Dillon Kerkman stole two bases. Benton had one error. Zane Frese took the loss, throwing for 1 1/3 innings, allowing eight hits, 11 runs, nine earned runs, walking three and striking out one. Evan Daugherty threw for one inning, allowed seven hits, four earned runs, walked two and hit one batter.

Benton turned it around in the second game with a 7-6 win. Benton had 11 hits. Easter Patterson was 2 for 4. Frese was 1 for 4. Timmerman was 1 for 3. Landen Schmuecker erased 1 for 4 with one RBI. Aiden Albettsen was 2 for 3 with two doubles. Casey Gallagher had a triple and two RBIs. Aiden Thompson was 1 for 3. Daugherty was 2 for 4 with one RBI. Patterson stole two bases. The team had two errors. Timmerman started for one inning, allowed no hits or runs, walked one and hit one batter. Gallagher threw for two-thirds of an inning, allowed two hits, four earned runs, and hit two batters. Jordan Thys threw for 5 1/3 innings and took the win, allowing two hits, two runs, no earned runs, walked one, hit one batter and struck out three.
