Benton Community competed at the Muscatine Tournament on June 12. They lost the first game to Cedar Rapids Prairie. Benton had two hits, with a double from Jaida Lyons and a double from Gabby McKee. The team had five errors.  Hannah Greiner threw for two innings, allowed two hits, no runs and struck out two. Katelyn Buscher took the loss, throwing 2 2/3 innings, allowing seven hits, three earned runs, and striking out two. Jesse DeMoss threw for 2 1/3 innings, allowed two hits, three earned runs, walked three and struck out one.

Muscatine 10, Benton 0

Benton had four hits against host Muscatine. Greiner was 1 for 3. McKee was 1 for 2. Buscher was 1 for 2. Brielle Hogan was also 1 for 2. Benton had four errors. Moore threw for four innings and took the loss. She allowed 12 hits, eight earned runs, walked one and struck out one. DeMoss threw for 1 2/3 innings, allowed two hits, two runs, one earned run and walked four.

Benton hosts Vinton-Shellsburg on Monday, June 14, travels to Maquoketa on Wednesday, June 16, and to Center Point-Urbana on Thursday, June 17. They face BCLUW at Roland-Story on Friday, June 18, as well as Ames. The tournament continues on Saturday, June 19.
