Bobcats split with Linn-Mar in baseball

Benton had seven hits in the first game, which lasted 10 innings. Evan Daugherty was 1 for 5. Cade Timmerman was 1 for 4 with a solo home run. Aiden Albertsen was 1 for 4. Zane Frese was 1 for with a double. Aidan Thompson was 2 for with a double and one RBI. Casey Gallagher was 1 for 4 with a double. Benton had four strikeouts and three walks. The team had no errors. Cade Timmerman started the game, threw for seven innings, and allowed nine hits, three earned runs, walked three and struck out four. Jordan Thys picked up the win, throwing for three innings, allowing two hits and striking out one.

Benton had five hits in the second game. Landen Schmuecker was 1 for 3 with a double. Aiden Albertsen was 1 for 3. Zane Frese was 1 for 3. Lane Kaestner was 1 for 3. Aidan Thompson was 1 fo 3 with a double and two RBIs. The team had seven strikeouts and one walk. The team had one error. Zane Frese threw for six innings, allowed nine hits, two earned runs, walked two, hit one batter and struck out five. Evan Daugherty threw for one out, and allowed no hits or runs. Easton Patterson threw for two outs, allowed two hits, three runs (two earned) and walked three. Patterson took the loss.

Next week Benton travels to Williamsburg on Monday, June 28, hosts Beckman on Thursday, July 1, plays at Iowa City Regina on Friday, July 2, and at West Delaware on Saturday, July 3. The first game at Manchester is at 10 a.m.
