Belle Plaine had eight hits in the non-conference game. Emma Townsley was 1 for 4 with one RBI. Hannah Greiner was 2 for 4. Ana Glawe was 1 for 4. Katelyn Buscher was 2 for 3 with a double and one RBI. Sarah Gorkow and Jaida Lyons each had singles. The team had three strikeouts and one walk. Benton had two errors. Hope Moore started and took the loss on the mound. She threw for four innings, allowed seven hits, four earned runs, walked two and struck out one. Greiner threw for two innings, allowed three runs (two earned), walked no one and struck out two.

Benton bounced back for a win in the second game. The team had 10 hits. Lyons was 2 for 4 with a double and three RBIs. Geiner was 1 for 2 with one RBI. Glawe was 1 for 5 with two RBIs. Buscher was 1 for 4 with one RBI. Gabby McKee was 2 for 4 with a double. Sarah Gorkow was 1 for 2 with one RBI. Brielle Hogan was 2 for 3 with one RBI. The team had four strikeouts and seven walks. They had no errors. DeMoss won as pitcher, throwing seven innings, allowing 10 hits, four earned runs, walking two and striking out one.

Benton had eight hits in the win. Lyons was 1 for 2. Greiner had one RBI. Buscher was 2 for 3 with one RBI. Townsley was 1 for 3. McKee was 2 for 3 with a home run and two RBIs. Hogan was 1 for 3. Hope Moore was 2 for 3. The team had two strikeouts and two walks. The team had one error. Moore picked up the win, throwing four innings, allowing one hit, no runs, and striking out four. Greiner threw for one inning, allowing no hits.

Bettendorf 8, Benton 0

Benton closed the tournament with a loss to Bettendorf, who is ranked No. 15 in Class 5A. The team was held to four hits. Glawe was 1 for 2. Buscher was 1 for 3. Gorkow was 1 for 2. Townsley was also 1 for 2. Benton had two strikeouts and two walks. The team had four errors. Greiner took the loss on the mound, throwing for three innings, allowing four hits, seven runs (three earned), walking three and hitting three batters. Moore threw for one inning, allowing one hit. Tegan Vogt threw for one inning, allowing one hit and one run.

Benton travels to Williamsburg on Monday, June 28, for two games. They host Beckman on Wednesday, June 30, for two games. Conference action continues as Benton travels to Mount Vernon for two games on Thursday, July 1. Benton closes the week on Friday, July 2, in non-conference action at Iowa City West. The game starts at 4:30 p.m.

The regular season closes on Monday, July 5, when Benton travels to No. 11 West Delaware for a doubleheader. Class 4A Region 5 softball action is Saturday, July 10, at Van Horne, when Benton hosts the winner of the Fort Madison vs. Burlington game.
