Benton (12-20) had eight hits in the WaMaC contest against South Tama (12-20). Cade Timmerman was 1 for 3 with one RBI. Easton Patterson was 1 for 2 with a double. Landen Schmuecker had one RBI. Aiden Albertsen was 2 for 4 with a double and two RBIs. Evan Daughtery was 2 for 3 with a double and one RBI. Cael Kaestner was 1 for 3. Casey Gallagher was 1 for 2 with one RBI. Benton had no errors. Winning pitcher Timmerman threw seven innings, allowed four hits, one earned run, hit two batters and struck out six.

Benton had a big game at the plate with 13 hits. Timmerman was 2 for 3 with a home run and three RBIs. Patterson was 1 for 3 with two RBIs. Schmuecker was 2 or 2 with one RBI. Albertsen was 2 for 3. Zane Frese was 3 for 5 with a double and four RBIs. Daugherty was 1 for 2 with two RBIs. Aidan Thompson was 1 for 2. Benton had no errors. Frese threw for five innings, allowed three hits, one earned run, six walks, and struck out four.

Benton hosts Monticello (15-13) on Monday, July 12, at Van Horne at 7 p.m. They travel to Davenport Assumption (22-13) on Tuesday, July 13, at 3 p.m. Benton travels to Ballard (17-11) on Friday, July 16, at 7 p.m., for the first round of Class 3A tournament, Substate 6.
