Belle Plaine (10-14) won its first round tournament game over North Tama (12-13). Belle Plaine plays Don Bosco (23-4) Tuesday, July 13, at Alburnett at 7 p.m.

Belle Plaine had 11 hits in the game, struck out five times and had 10 walks. Jaxson Kressley was 1 for 2 with a triple and two RBIs. Jackson Tegeler was 1 for 2 with one RBI. Ty Alcott was 1 for 3 with one RBI. Jack Schwenn had two RBIs. Eli Ehlen was 1 for 4. Kanyon Schwab was 1 for 3. Connor Timm was 1 for 4 with one RBI. Keaton Parrott was 1 for 3. Kressley scored three runs. With two runs each were Schwab, Timm and Parrott. The team had one error. Alcott picked up the win, going four innings, allowing two hits, three runs (two earned), walking seven, hitting two batters and striking out seven. Parrott threw for three innings, allowed two hits, no runs, hit one batter and struck out four.

Belle Plaine (10-15) lost to No. 6 Don Bosco (24-4) in the second round of the Class 1A regional tournament. Belle Plaine was held to one hit, and had 12 strikeouts and one walk. Ryan Naughton threw for six innings, allowed one hit, walked one, hit one batter and struck out 11. Ty Purdy threw for one inning, allowed one run, and struck out one. Connor Timm had one hit. Eli Ehlen had one run. Belle Plaine had two errors. Nate Hoover threw for Belle Plaine. He threw for six innings, allowed five hits, three earned runs, walked two, hit one batter and struck out two.

Don Bosco faces Alburnett (26-9) on Saturday, July 17, at 7 p.m. at Waterloo West.
