Plainsmen lose season opener to North Tama at home

Belle Plaine lost in its Class A season opener to North Tama, 31-14, at Belle Plaine.

Belle Plaine’s Ben DeMeulenaere was 5 of 11 in passing for 67 yards and no interceptions. Cejay Mumby threw one interception.

Belle Plaine rushed for 167 yards. Connor Timm carried 11 times for 26 yards and one touchdown. Ben DeMeulenaere carried 12 times for 67 yards. Cejay Mumby carted one time for -12 yards. Brooks DeMeulenaere carried three times for 14 yards. Ty Alcott carried nine times for 20 yards. Ean Allie carried six times for 15 yards. Jeremy Reineke carried 10 times for 37 yards and one touchdown.

Timm caught one pass for six yards. Gavin Ward caught two for 25 yards. Mumby caught two for 36 yards.

Timm had four total tackles with three solo tackles. Alcott had two solo tackles. With 3.5 total tackles each were Jack Schwenn and Chase Wickwire.

Ean Allie had one interception. Timm had a kick return of 51 yards.  Alcott returned two for 19 yards. Brooks DeMeulenaere had one for seven yards. Alcott returned one punt for nine yards. Ben DeMeulenaere punted twice for 43 yards. Xander Osborne had two kickoffs for 63 yards. Ward added a two-point conversion.

Belle Plaine hosts Madrid (0-1) Friday, Sept. 3, as non-district play continues.
