January 3, 2022 – Grant applications can now be submitted to the Benton County Community Foundation’s 2022 grant cycle with a deadline to submit applications by 5:00 p.m. on March 15. The online grant application can be found on the Community Foundation’s website at www.bentonccf.org. Grants are awarded to projects within the program areas of arts and culture, community betterment, education and youth development, environment and animal welfare, health and human service. Grant recipients will be announced in June 2022.
Grants are available to 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations and government entities. Tax-exempt organizations classified as other than 501(c)(3) are also eligible, if and only if, the project is deemed charitable; please contact Dotti Thompson at 319-243-1358 or firstname.lastname@example.org to discuss the project’s eligibility prior to submitting a proposal. Grants selections are made in an effort to create a better quality of life for people in Benton County. A local governing committee reviews the applications from charitable organizations serving their community.
A public grant applicant workshop will be held on Thursday, January 6, from 6:00 – 7:30 p.m. at the Van Horne Community Center, 508 1st Ave, Van Horne, IA. Individuals, especially those interested in applying for a grant, are encouraged to attend the workshop and should RSVP online at www.cfneia.org/benton-workshop.
At the workshop, members of the Benton County Community Foundation committee will review any changes to the grant guidelines, budget template, and the application, in addition to answering questions. Workshop attendees will also hear from Dotti Thompson, program manager for the Community Foundation of Northeast Iowa.
In 2021, a total of $100,270.61 in discretionary grants were awarded to 19 area nonprofit and government agency projects serving Benton County. Since 2005, the Benton County Community Foundation has awarded more than $1.4 million in grants from all charitable giving funds of the Foundation.
